Self-Portraits as a Hysteric (2020-Present)

Self-Portraits as a Hysteric is an ongoing collection exploring the image of the “Mad Woman” in Western consciousness. After months of small and large attacks, I was diagnosed with Conversion Disorder in the Spring of 2022, the modern Hysteria diagnosis. This work documents my process with phototherapy, as both healing for PTSD and as reclamation of the illness.
